Zoo Babies Naming
Parameters
African names for the pygmy hippo and Bongo
and Spanish or Portuguese names for the wolf pups may have a
better chance of winning. Names providing English
translations if foreign name submitted (meaning of the
names) and proper pronunciation will have the best chance of
winning. These guidelines were set forth by the Louisville
Zoo.
Process - Bongo and Maned
Wolves:
Louisville Zoo will select the
winning names for the bongo and maned wolf pups from the
names submitted during the contest period April 2 – 15,
2007. Winners for each animal will receive a prize package
as listed below. Winners will be announced on May 7, 2007.
The Louisville Zoo is not
obligated to use any of the name submissions and may elect
to create its own names for use independent of the
contest. In the event that none of the name submissions
are used as the final bongo or maned wolf names, an entry
will be selected as the runner-up name(s) and the
individual who submitted the selected runner-up name(s) will
be awarded the prize package(s).
One prize will be awarded for
the winning bongo name and one prize will be awarded for the
winning wolf names. Each prize package will include a Zoo
prize basket ($65 value), Norton Healthcare prize basket
($25 value), $25 gift card from Whole Foods and a
behind-the-scenes tour to meet the baby/babies with keepers ($500 value). Total value of
the prize package is $615. Prizes are non-transferable and
cannot be exchanged for cash.
Process – Pygmy Hippo:
Louisville Zoo will select
three names as finalists for the pygmy hippo from the names
submitted during the contest period April 2 – 15. The public
will then be invited to vote for the winner by means of a
kiosk placed in the Zoo’s plaza through May 3. Votes can be
placed by making a contribution via coins into the slot
representing a favorite name. The name with the highest
total donations will be the winner and will be announced on
May 7. All proceeds support the Zoo’s efforts to provide
excellent care for animals, a great experience for you, and
a better future for all living things. The person
submitting the winning name will be the grand prizewinner
and those submitting the two alternate names will receive
alternate prizes.
The Louisville Zoo is not
obligated to use any of the hippo name submissions and may
elect to create its own names for use independent of the
contest. In the event that none of the name submissions
are used as the final hippo name, one entry will be selected
as the runner-up hippo name and the individual who submitted
the selected runner-up name will be awarded the grand
prize. Two alternate names will be selected as alternate
winners.
One
grand prize will be awarded, which includes: Two round trip
airline tickets from Frontier Airlines ($1,000 value), a
private tour of the Louisville Zoo for up to 5 persons
(value $500), a Zoo family membership ($69 value), Whole
Foods Gift Card ($50 value). Total retail value of prize
package is $1,619. Two alternate prizes will be awarded
which will be a Zoo Prize Basket ($65 value), Norton
Healthcare Prize Basket ($25 value) and a Whole Foods Gift
Card ($25). Total retail value of alternate prize package is
$115. Prizes are non-transferable and cannot be exchanged
for cash. Must be 18 years or older to win airline tickets.
Contest entrants will not be
compensated or reimbursed for their name submissions. All
name entries become sole property of the Louisville Zoo.
Not responsible for lost, late, or misdirected entries.
Zoo Babies name judging and
selection will be done by the Louisville Zoo.
Winners of the Contest prizes
will be notified via telephone and mail no later than May 7,
2007 and must execute affidavit of eligibility and waiver of
liability release within 14 days of notification or an
alternate winner will be selected. The winner’s name will
be posted on the Zoo’s website following verification and
acceptance.
Contest entrants agree that,
if their name submission is selected as a winner, the
Louisville Zoo may use the entrant’s name and likeness for
promotional purposes including, but not limited to, official
press release announcing the names and Contest winners;
optional appearance at event announcing the names and
winning entrants; and official announcement on
organizations’ websites.
In the event any winning names
are submitted by more than one entrant, a random drawing of
the duplicates will determine the winner.
