“Tree
of Life”
When the Islands Exhibit first opened to the public in 2007, the Zoo
decided it was important to find a way for zoo supporters to
commemorate their loved ones who share(d) a passion for wildlife and
conservation. Though a partnership with Louisville Stoneware, your
Zoo found the perfect way to do so. This piece of working art is in
a constant state of growth as people purchase ceramic leaves,
butterflies, or birds to pay tribute and/or honor those that mean
the most to them.
At a variety of price levels, you can
personalize your addition to the Tree in a way that provides meaning
to the loved one you are honoring or commemorating. Your tax
deductible gift directly supports the Zoo’s animal care and
enrichment activities, fulfilling the greatest needs of your
Zoo. When your one of a kind leaf, butterfly, or bird is especially
created for you and permanently placed on the tree, a Zoo staff
member will contact you and invite you out to see it firsthand.

Time-honored
Benches*
For a gift of $2,000 for an existing bench or $5,000 for a new
bench, Zoo staff will help you to choose a commemorative bench on
the 134-acre Zoo grounds. Benches are strategically placed
throughout the Zoo to attract tired visitors by offering them a
shady place to rest. A personalized brass plaque will be installed
on your bench and remain on Zoo grounds for a minimum of 5
years. The inscription can contain up to 40 characters and 4 lines.
In the unlikely event that your bench
becomes damaged beyond repair within the first five years, the Zoo
will be responsible for its replacement and the replacement of the
plaque. Should the bench need replacing after the initial five
years, you will have the opportunity to renew your gift for a new
bench and plaque. Click
here for a
Bench Order Form.
*During times of expansion or
construction, your bench may need to be relocated. We will make
every effort to place your bench in proximity to its existing
location; however final placement decisions rest with the Zoo.
The
Conservation Carousel
Invest in the future by commissioning a hand-carved, custom painted,
wooden animal for your Zoo’s marvelous carousel. Your tax-deductible
gift of $10,000 will be designated for the Zoo’s Conservation
Endowment, supporting conservation efforts relevant to our mission
both in-situ and here locally. Your animals will be individually
hand crafted and installed on the carousel. Louisville Stoneware
will create two plaques commemorating your gift, one of which will
be placed on the interior of the carousel’s columns, and the second
of which will be presented to you!
*Own a piece of history! For a gift
of $3,000 a Philadelphia Toboggan carousel horse could be yours.
Your gift will go towards the Zoo’s Annual Fund, supporting the
greatest needs of your Zoo.
