Behind the
Scenes!
Tour de Zoo Did you ever wonder what goes on
behind the scenes at the Louisville Zoo? Ever want to learn
first-hand from a keeper and get a private, up-close look at the
animals? The Tour de Zoo Program offers your VIP group a
guided, behind-the-scenes tour to exclusive animal exhibit areas
inaccessible to the general public.
Picture this:
zipping through the Zoo on a private golf cart, the wind in your
hair, as you make your way to an exclusive visit in the Elephant
Barn with Scotty the baby African elephant, or a closer look at
magnificent orangutans, Amber and Teak, as they do a training
demonstration in the Islands Exhibit!
All tours are led
by experienced and passionate Zoo staff, and behind the scenes
information is delivered firsthand by our stellar keepers. You’ll
be given the opportunity to meet and ask questions of the keepers
who provide care and enrichment for the animals daily. Impress your
friends with your ability to share each animal’s name, as well as
conservation facts about their wild family members. You can even
arrange to have a family lunch after your tour that can be catered
by our fabulous Safari Culinary Company catering crew.
Garden Tea Party
offers botanical enthusiasts an exclusive tour of the Zoo’s
botanical gardens. The Louisville Zoo is the only Zoo in the state
of Kentucky to be accredited by the Association of Zoos and
Aquariums and the American Association of Museums as both a Zoo and
Botanical Gardens. A Louisville Zoo horticulturist will lead this
private VIP tour of up to 5 people, highlighting unusual specimens
and botanical areas on Zoo grounds. The day can culminate with an
exclusive tea party and other unique amenities.
Tour packages also include an unlimited stay on Zoo Grounds
for the extent of the day.
Tour packages begin at $250.
Fees are
tax-deductible to the extent provided by law.
Add $200 to your
package for a themed-catered meal.
For the safety of
human and animal species, guests in primate areas must be over the
age of 8.
Subject to staff availability, your tour can be scheduled seven days
a week, year-round except on major holidays. Two weeks notice is
appreciated. To arrange your tour or obtain additional information,
please
