FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

New 4-D Attraction Set for Spring

New 50-seat 4-D Theater Featuring Two New Movies Opens March 30
Presented by Ford Motor Company

The Louisville Zoo will open a new 50-seat 4-D Theater March 30. The new theater will have 3-D projection, surround-sound audio and exciting 4-D special effects that fully immerse audiences, and includes lots of surprises like bubbles, wind, water squirts, leg ticklers and more.  It debuts with two new movies Dora & Diego’s 4-D Adventure and Planet Earth: Ice Worlds 4-D Experience.   The 4-D Theater is presented by Ford Motor Company.

In Dora & Diego’s 4-D Adventure, visitors will join Nickelodeon stars Dora, Diego and Boots as they travel from the tropical rainforest to the icy Arctic in a high-speed chase to protect the world’s animals from Swiper’s Robot Butterfly!  Swiper has invented a Robot Butterfly, but when he loses control of his creation, the Robot Butterfly begins swiping the homes of the animals in the rainforest.  It’s up to Dora, Diego, Boots and visitors to catch that Robot Butterfly.

Planet Earth: Ice Worlds is an exciting BBC Earth 4-D adventure that explores the mysterious frozen worlds of the Arctic and Antarctic and the effects of the ice on the animals that live there.  The seasonal advance and retreat of the ice produces some of the greatest physical challenges experienced anywhere in the animal world--shaping the lives and survival of Polar bears, Emperor penguins, Humpback whales and Sea lions.  With in-theater special effects that bring this amazing story to life, Planet Earth: Ice Worlds transports visitors to the Arctic Circle and Antarctica, and the danger-filled world of the animals that live there.  Planet Earth: Ice Worlds is a BBC/Discovery Channel/NHK co-production, in association with the CBC.

“We are excited to help bring this attraction to Louisville,” said Kimberly Hofmann of Ford Motor Company.  “It is a unique, interactive, educational opportunity that will be fun for the whole family.”

The 4-D Theater will be open from 10:30 a.m. until 30 minutes before the Zoo closes. Individual 4-D Theater tickets will be $5 per person, $4 for Louisville Zoo Members and $3 for groups of 15 or more and for a second feature on the same day (see both shows or the same show twice).  Ride/Attraction Packages are available for guests wanting to experience a variety of attractions during their Zoo visit. Packages include unlimited Carousel rides, the ZooTram Shuttle, a ticket to the 4-D Theater and to Dinosaurs!. Package prices are $14 per person, $12.50 for Louisville Zoo Members.  Guests can also purchase the Adventure Ticket which also includes Zoo admission with a Ride/Attraction Package. Cost is $25.95 for Adults (12-59) and $22.95 for children (3-11) and Seniors (60+).

Downloadable education materials are available for teachers on the Zoo’s website at www.louisvillezoo.org and can be used as a resource either before or after a visit to the new 4-D Theater.
