School is OUT and
We made it through an exceptionally long chilly winter, school is out and summer is here. Yeah!
The Louisville Zoo is the perfect place to enjoy the outdoors again and take in the seasonal highlights, like our brightly blooming plants and the cool fun at the Papa John's Splash Park.
While you may enjoy a leisurely stroll through our botanical gardens, you can also get a bird's-eye view by buckling up for a trip on the brand new adventure rope courses...event the little ones can join in! Or take a tour of the whole grounds with a leisurely ride on the Zoo Train.
Have you ever tried a "Cherry-pomelon-colada" ICEE? Create your own signature ICEE flavor at the fun new ICEE Mix It Up Stations at Kentucky Canteen (main plaza) and Bomassa Soft Serve (near the African Outpost). Flavors include cherry, watermelon, pina colada, cherry limeade, Coke, orange, pomegranate cherry and more. Yum!
Be sure to stop by the Meerkat exhibit near the African Outpost to say hello to the newest member of the Zoo family, an adorable Meerkat baby.*
And don't be surprised if you spot some other more unusual new inhabitants of the Zoo – Big Big Bugs! These 13 gigantic animatronic creatures have invaded the Zoo grounds for a limited time through Sept. 28 courtesy of Ford Motor Company - you can't miss them! Help us name these gigantic bugs!
*Note: as with all of our animals, the baby's schedule is subject to change.
