Brew at the Zoo fundraiser
to feature more than 60 brews, foods and wines
Annual event expects another
sell-out crowd
Louisville, Ky.—The Friends of the
Louisville Zoo will host the sixth-annual Brew at the Zoo & Wine
too! fundraiser on Saturday, August 29 from 4 to 9 p.m. at the
Louisville Zoo Oasis field. This year’s event will feature more
than 60 different restaurants, vendors and products for
sampling.
Food from more than 30 local
restaurants and vendors is available from 4 to 6:30 p.m. and
beer and wine tasting from breweries and wineries is available
until 8:30 p.m. There will be beers from 20-plus breweries and
a collection of wines from several regional wineries as well.
A selection of non-alcoholic products and water will be
provided. Guests must be 21 or older to attend the event. A
complete listing of participating restaurants, breweries and
wineries is available online at
www.louisvillezoo.org/events.
Scot Mertz and His Panel of Experts
will provide rockabilly music starting at 4:30 p.m. followed by
the Tim Krekel Orchestra featuring Greg Foresman at 6:30 p.m.
for original rock and blues.
“The Louisville Zoo has been a treasure
in our community for forty years. Brew at the Zoo is a great
opportunity to raise a glass in celebration of that milestone,
and help contribute to the Zoo’s future,” said Sean P.
Gallagher, co-chair of this year’s event. “Brew at the Zoo is
always a popular event and we look forward to another sell-out
crowd.”
Tickets for the event are available for
advance purchase online at
www.louisvillezoo.org/events for $40 per person and $30 for
designated drivers (designated driver tickets do not include
alcohol tasting). Advance tickets can also be purchased at the
Zoo box office for $45 per individual and $35 designated
driver. Any remaining tickets will be sold at the gate at a
cost of $50 per individual and $40 designated driver. Advance
purchase is encouraged as this event often sells out.
Tickets include admission to the Zoo,
live music, brew, wine and food samplings and an official Brew
at the Zoo & Wine too! four-ounce tasting glass.
Proceeds raised from the event benefit
the Louisville Zoo’s Glacier Run Capital Campaign, featuring a
four-acre exhibit modeled after a mining town on the edge of the
Arctic wilderness that will educate visitors about global issues
and inspire them to take action for the planet. When completed,
Glacier Run will include polar bears, seals, sea lions, and
other Arctic animals.
The Friends of the Louisville Zoo has
contributed more than $3 million to the Zoo throughout the
organization’s history.
