FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Louisville Zoo prices change
In keeping with the Louisville Zoo’s business
plan, admission prices will be changing July 1, 2010, to:
-
Adult (12-59)
general admission will go up a $1 to $12.95
-
Child (3-11)
general admission will go up $.55 to $9.50
-
Senior (60+)
general admission will go up $.55 to $9.50
-
Children 2 and
under are still free
The last Zoo price increase was July of 2007.
Pricing increases typically occur in the same
year as a major new exhibit, which not only enhances the visitor
experience and mission of the Zoo, but also adds a new layer of on-going
operational expenses for keepers, animal food, programs and more not
covered by the capital fundraising efforts that help finance exhibit
construction. This historically occurs every two to three years.
The current price change was scheduled to occur
in tandem with the opening of Glacier Run—the opening of the Seal and
Sea Lion habitat at Glacier Run is scheduled for June 30, 2010, and the
return of polar bears in spring 2011.
