The Peppermint Palm partners with
Louisville Zoo for special April 22 discount that will benefit customers
and Zoo’s Glacier Run exhibit
In an effort to help bring awareness to
endangered species, The Peppermint Palm has partnered with the
Louisville Zoo to offer customers an exciting discount that will also
benefit the Zoo.
When customers purchase items from The
Peppermint Palm, a Lilly Pulitzer Via Shop, (from either their
Louisville or Lexington store or online) on Earth Day, April 22, 2010,
they will receive a 10 percent discount when they mention they are
purchasing to support the Louisville Zoo. The Peppermint Palm will then
donate 20 percent of the store’s profits that day to the Zoo’s Glacier
Run Capital Campaign.
The Lilly Pulitzer Spring 2010 collection is
entitled Protective Prints because it is inspired by endangered species
and their habitats in an effort to generate awareness for their
cause—protection.
“The Peppermint Palm is happy to support the
Louisville Zoo’s Glacier Run campaign. We are proud to donate to
charities on a regular basis,” The Peppermint Palm owner Vanessa
Ledridge said. “And Lilly Pulitzer’s animal-inspired spring prints were
designed to raise awareness about endangered species. So what better way
to call attention to the importance of these precious animals than to
partner with the Louisville Zoo.”
Some Louisville Zoo animals will even be out
meeting customers April 22 at The Peppermint Palm’s Louisville location
from 11 a.m. to noon and 3 to 4 p.m.
For those shopping online on April 22, 2010, at
www.peppermintpalm.com, please write “Louisville Zoo” in the
comments section at checkout to receive the 10 percent discount.
The Peppermint Palm is located at 3741
Lexington Road, Louisville, KY 40207 (502-896-9190) and at 3333 Tates
Creek Road, Lexington, KY 40502 (859-268-7323).

The Peppermint Palm is one of only
approximately 75 Lilly Pulitzer Via Shops in the U.S. that sell the
complete Lilly Pulitzer collection.
Lilly Pulitzer started out running a juice
stand with her then husband’s produce from his palm beach citrus groves.
(Lilly was married to Peter Pulitzer, grandson of the Pulitzer Prize's
Joseph Pulitzer.) When the citrus would make a mess of her clothes she
decided to come up with a colorful shift to hide the citrus stains. Her
customers ended up liking her dresses more than her juice. After her old
school chum, Jackie Kennedy, was featured in Life Magazine wearing one
of her dresses, Lilly Pulitzer became a fashion sensation.

Glacier Run is a
multi-faceted exhibit that is being built at the Louisville Zoo.
Ultimately it will be home to seals, sea lions, polar bears, sea otters
and Steller’s sea eagles.
Modeled after an
imaginary mining town located at the edge of the arctic wilderness the
hallmarks of the exhibit will be the amazing animal habitats and the
many opportunities for visitors to become immersed and actively involved
in the exhibit experience.
The seal and sea
lion habitat are scheduled to open in 2010 with the polar bear habitat
slated for a 2011 opening. For more information, visit
