Louisville Zoo Foundation welcomes
three new board members
The Louisville Zoo Foundation Board of
Trustees is excited to welcome three new board members to the
organization—Robert K. Holmes Jr., Dr. Heidi Hulon and Kerry
Stemler.
Robert K. Holmes Jr. is
President and CEO of the Louisville Real Estate Development
Company. He also serves as Assistant Vice President for The
Mardrian Group, a Construction and Real Estate Development
Company. His primary responsibility is strategic planning and
business development. Before joining the Louisville Real Estate
Development Company, Holmes spent 16 years as Vice President of
Corporate Services with Brown-Forman Corporation. As the first
African-American corporate officer Holmes was responsible for
several Brown-Forman corporate functions world-wide.
“The Louisville Zoo has been a mainstay
in our community for many, many years,” Holmes said. “It’s had
such an educational impact on so many of our youth and adults
and I am looking forward to the opportunity to continue to help
contribute to what the Zoo has already done in our community.”
Dr. Heidi Hulon currently serves
as President of the Greater Louisville Veterinary Medical
Association and Vice-President of the Kentucky Veterinary
Medical Association. She is also the Department Chair for the
Veterinary Technology Program at Louisville’s Brown-Mackie
College and is the media spokesperson for the national PetFit
tour sponsored by Hill’s Pet Nutrition and the American
Veterinary Medical Association.
“To serve on the Louisville Zoo
Foundation Board is a great honor and a huge delight for me,”
Hulon said. “It allows me to fulfill my passion for animals,
conservation and Zoos by helping to make our Zoo become one of
the best in the country.”
Kerry Stemler is President and
CEO of KM STEMLER CO INC., a commercial and industrial general
contracting firm operating in the Southern Indiana/Metro
Louisville markets. He is also President and CEO of KM STEMLER
TRUCKING INC., a specialized interstate hauler of heavy
construction equipment, industrial forklifts and machinery
primarily in the states of Indiana, Kentucky, Ohio, Illinois and
Tennessee.
“I was honored when Mayor Abramson
appointed me to the Board of Directors and commend both he and
the nominating committee for including southern Indiana
representation, because I feel the Louisville Zoo is a regional
attraction,” Stemler said. “Progressive thinking such as this is
what we need to do more of to expand what is an interdependent,
intertwined, two-state community. The success of the Louisville
Zoo is derived from visitors and supporters from both sides of
the river. I am pleased to be a part of the growth and future
opportunities that the zoo will provide to families in
communities throughout the States of Kentucky and Indiana.”
Louisville Zoo Foundation board members
serve a three-year term.
