One day isn’t enough to celebrate the wonders of our planet and promote the need to protect it, so the Louisville Zoo is hosting a month-long party. The month of April includes special activities; zookeeper presentations; a regional art contest for students; $3 admission on April 13; and events to delight patrons of all ages.

Celebrate Mother’s Day with free Zoo admission for moms courtesy of McDonald’s® Restaurants of Kentuckiana. Find out what human and animal moms have in common and participate in a fun scavenger hunt.

Come celebrate 50 years of the chart topping song “Look Homeward Angel” at the WAKY Monarchs 50th Anniversary Concert at the Louisville Zoo. The Monarchs will perform some of their greatest hits along with covers of other popular tunes.

Imagination comes to life as kids meet some of their favorite storybook characters including Little Critter, Wild Thing (Where the Wild Things Are), Geronimo Stilton, Skippyjon Jones, Curious George and Mouse (If you Give a Mouse a Cookie). McDonald’s mascots Birdie, Grimmace and Hamburgler will stop by too!

Field opens at 6 p.m., movie starts at sundown
Join us on the second Friday of the month, June through September, to enjoy a movie under the stars at the wildest theater in town. Watch your favorite movies on our giant inflatable screen. The Zoo Crew will provide free entertainment before the show. Snacks and other refreshments will be available for purchase. Don’t forget to pack your blanket or lawn chairs. Movie nights are free to Zoo members and only $5 after 5 p.m. for non-members.
