RETROSPECTIVE
July
4, 5 & 6, 2008
Nickelodeon's Dora the Explorer
¡Hola!
Dora the Explorer welcomed over fans 17,791 as she hosted a meet and
greet Fourth of July weekend at the Louisville Zoo. The heat and
chance of rain did not keep the little ones away from joining in on
games and dancing as part of the three day entertainment. The Zoo
Crew, with the help of Best Buy volunteers entertained the crowd
with games and Dora music. There was also a worm dig and wind
generators where the kids could learn about clean energy and
vermacomposting. Best Buy also gave away several Dora DVDs as prizes
while the kids waited in line to meet Dora and her pal Boots.
To
complement Dora the Explorer’s bilingual character, kids were given
an educational scavenger hunt at the Zoo entrance. In a rhyming
fashion, the scavenger led seekers to different exhibits throughout
the Zoo where they would learn the Spanish translation for that
animal. Letters collected from each clue on the chart provided a
secret code that spelled out a mystery phrase. All children received
a Zoo prize for participating. Community Bank and Scott County Bank
were proud sponsors of the three day event. We appreciate all of
their employees and our Zoo guests for making it an awesome holiday
weekend!
