A.D.O.P.T.S. Program
Animals Depend on People to Survive
Invite your students to help raise funds to help preserve
precious species. When we teach children about conservation, they
become involved in the responsibility we share to preserve and care
for our world. All funds donated to ADOPTS go toward caring for the
animals here at the Zoo.
By participating in this important program, your students will
learn about and develop a connection to their classroom’s chosen
animal. Many of these animals are endangered species whose very
survival depends on all of us working together on conservation
efforts. Adoptions are a fun and interesting way to encourage the
natural curiosity children have about animals.
Many teachers use a classroom adoption to connect geography,
history, environmental studies and science with an animal that
students can actually see at the Zoo. Such connections often have a
lasting and long-reaching effect on a child’s awareness of our world.
As an A.D.O.P.T.S. program participant your class will receive:
- A picture and information card for the classes’ chosen
animal
- An adoption certificate suitable for framing
- A plush animal
Cost: Classroom adoptions start at $75.
