Field Trip Rules
All rules and regulations are designed to make your visit
carefree and enjoyable. If you have any questions or need assistance
in planning your visit, please call the Louisville Zoo at (502)
459-2181.
- Before entering the Zoo, count the number of children and
adults in your group. Bring your payment (cash or a school
check payable to the “Louisville Zoo”) in the exact amount
needed for admission. One adult should get off the bus to
present payment with a completed group Admission Ticket form at
the ticket window. The bus should proceed to the Bus Parking Lot
where the groups can disembark and walk to the Main Gate. Before
exiting the bus, please advise all students and chaperones of
the group’s departure time and location.
- The group MUST include a minimum of one adult for every
10 children.
- Supervisors and chaperones MUST stay with the group at
all times. An adult must also accompany children into the
restrooms and the Gift Shops.
- We are no longer able to page school groups except in
the case of a medical or other serious emergency. Please arrange
to have chaperones’ cell phone numbers should you need to
communicate with them.
- Please be safety conscious. Remain on walkways. Walk,
do not run. For everyone’s safety, it is extremely important
that all visitors stay off the exhibit barriers, walls, fences
and railings. Do not tap or pound on glass exhibits. The animals
are wild and should be considered dangerous.
- Don’t run after the animals that wander free around the
Zoo. Our ducks, geese, peacocks and swans nest around the
Zoo grounds in the spring. Please, stay away from these nesting
birds since we do not wish to disturb them. They may bite!
- Please be courteous. No shouting or teasing animals.
Never throw anything into exhibits. Do not feed the animals.
Please help us keep the grounds clean by not littering.
- Children should be instructed to report to a member of
the Zoo staff if they become lost. “Found” children will
remain in the Zoo Administration Building until claimed by
chaperones. Please retrieve children promptly.
- Name Tags should include the school and teacher’s name.
Please use tape or string – no pins.
- The First Aid Station is located on the Front Plaza
behind the restrooms.
- All regulations must be followed. Failure to adhere
to the regulations could result in dismissal from the Louisville
Zoo.
- Our staff are available to help you. Don’t hesitate
to contact any one of them should any problems arise during your
visit. Enjoy the Louisville Zoo!
