HOMESCHOOL PRIDE PROGRAMS

The Louisville Zoo is offering education programs designed specifically to meet the needs of local families that are taking the responsibility for educating their children at home by using resources in the home and community. A series of science based classes are being offered once a month from 1:30–3 p.m. for children in grades K–5. Hands-on and minds-on activities that are based on National Science Education Standards will keep your child busy. Pre-registration is required. Cost: $10 per child (Zoo Members); $15 (Non-Members)

$5 per participating parent

Please note: non-Louisville Zoo members will be assessed a $5 parking fee per vehicle. These can be purchased online when you purchase tickets.

“Fantastic Flyers”

Students will learn about birds and the adaptations they have for flight. You will meet a keeper that takes care of some special birds. This program complements the Louisville Science Center’s Animal Antics family program.

“Can You Find Me?”

How do animals hide? What adaptations do they have so that they can survive? You will get to see some animals that you might not notice even if they were right in front of you!

“Snack Attack”

Do birds just eat seeds? How much does an elephant eat? How does the Louisville Zoo feed all its animals? Participants will learn what all kinds of animals eat! They will have a special tour of the Zoo’s kitchen – the Commissary. This program complements the Louisville Science

Center’s Animal Antics family program.

Children will encounter animals that spend most of their time in trees like orangutans, siamangs, and woolly monkeys.

Learn what babies have been born at the Louisville Zoo this past year. Some look like their parents and some don’t when they are first born. Who knows which new baby you might meet!

Cancellation and Refund Policy

  1. Individuals who wish to cancel their registration in any class must notify the Education Department, in writing, no less than one week prior to the actual date of the class. We will refund 80% of the class fee upon receipt of a written or email (danita.robbins@louisvilleky.gov) cancellation.
    There will be no refunds for cancellations made less than one week prior to class date.
  2. The Education Department reserves the right to cancel classes with insufficient registration.
  3. There will be a $10 service charge for any changes in the original registration.
  4. Pre-registration is required for all classes.

Registration Information

Registrations are taken on a first-come, first-served basis and camps fill quickly. Pre-registration is required for all classes.

  1. Online registrations through our eTicket Store are available unless otherwise noted. Only credit card payments accepted. Confirmations are automatically emailed with your ticket.
  2. Reservations will not be taken over the phone.
