Two by Two

This program is designed for a two year old
and his or her parent or grandparent. Through interactive learning,
this experience will promote positive feelings about the world
around them. Children must be accompanied by an adult and the child
MUST have reached the age of two by the date of the first class. Due
to limited classroom space, we ask that only one adult attend with
the child per session. Extra adults attending will be $10 each. All
campers will receive a t-shirt.
Cost (4 consecutive Fridays for one child and
adult): Regular $95; Members $80
Head to Tail
Do we have ears like a rabbit or eyes
like an owl? Children will see animals up close and learn to
identify parts of animals’ bodies.

Counting Critters
Bring your three year old to a program
that incorporates counting skills with hands-on animals contact.
This program includes Zoo walks, crafts and activities.

ZOOper Kids enjoy Zoo walks, crafts,
snacks, closely supervised contact with education animals and story
times. All campers receive a t-shirt.

Do Animals Wear Clothes?
Some animals have scales while others
have feathers. What’s the difference between a reptile and an
amphibian? This program will introduce your child to the different
groups of animals.

The Five Senses
Some animals can see in the dark and some
use smells to communicate! Come discover sights and smells, touch
some of our education animals and learn about animal senses.

Hop, Slither and Fly!
Animals move about the world in a great
number of ways. Some creatures walk, some creatures run, other
prefer to swim and many can even fly. ZOOper kids will look at how
animals get around and the special features they have to help them
get from place to place.

Safari Day Camp

Introduce your child to a camp experience
found in few other places. Campers will be divided into small groups
according to their ages. Camp activities are age-appropriate and
will include nature study, arts and crafts, controlled animal
contact and Zoo walks. All campers receive a Safari Day Camp
t-shirt. Camps are Monday through Friday with the exception of the
week of the Fourth of July (note dates on the registration form).
Children attending full day sessions from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. must bring
a sack lunch and a drink. Lunches will be refrigerated. Cost
includes a special visit to Zoo's Dinosaurs Alive!
a limited-time exhibit of 16 life-size animatronic dinosaurs. If you would
like your child to be grouped with a friend, please indicate this
clearly in the space provided on the registration form. We will
adhere to our policy of grouping children according to their age. We
do not recommend placing siblings of different ages together.

Animals Around the Clock (Ages 6-7)
Do you ever wonder why some animals are
awake at night and some are awake during the day? Discover the what,
where and when of animal behaviors throughout the different seasons
of the year.

Let’s Eat! (Ages 6-7)
Animals survive by eating a wide variety
of foods. Campers will learn about what animals eat in the wild and
at the Zoo. A visit to the Zoo’s Commissary where most of the animal
diets are prepared will be one of the many special experiences
planned for the week.

I Will Survive! (Ages 8-9)
From camouflage to echolocation, all
animals have special characteristics that help them to survive in
the wild. Campers will explore the various survival techniques of
the plant and animal kingdoms.

Planet of Plenty (Ages 8-9)
Campers will learn about the biodiversity
of ecosystems which includes animals, plants and people. Animal
behavior, adaptations and the music, art and cultural traditions
that exist around them will be explored in this multi-cultural
program.

If I Ran the Zoo! (Ages 10-12)
Campers will learn about all that is
required to run a zoo which will include the different jobs that
people have, animal care policies, husbandry procedures, safety
requirements, horticulture needs, fundraising programs and exhibit
design. Campers will meet the staff that makes our Zoo possible.

Zoo Detective (Ages 10-12)
Every day brings a new mystery at the
Zoo! Campers will explore the Zoo and learn problem solving skills
to crack the case of the day. Campers will learn what it is like to
be a researcher or a field biologist throughout this fun-filled
“discovery” week.

Teen Safari
(Ages 13-15)

This program is designed for teens ages
13-15 who have an interest in our living world, zoology and
conservation. Teen Safari is designed to challenge the senses and
activate the minds of young people using the wonderful resources of
our Zoo. Classes, activities and behind-the-scenes tours provide an
opportunity for teens to discover more about the Zoo, our planet,
and conservation issues. Cost includes a special visit to Zoo's
Dinosaurs Alive! a limited-time
exhibit of 16 life-size animatronic dinosaurs. Three sessions are offered.
Teen Safari Session 1 will meet Monday
through Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. On Thursday evening
participants will meet at the Zoo at 7 p.m. for the Night Safari,
which ends at 9 a.m. Friday morning. NOTE: An evening cookout and breakfast
will be provided for the Night Safari! Monday through Wednesday each
teen should bring a sack lunch and drink. Teen Safari Sessions 2 and
3 will meet Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Each teen
should bring a sack lunch and drink each day.
Cost: Regular $200; Members $185

Track 'em, Smack 'em and Roar
(Ages 8-12)
The Louisville Tennis Center, the
Louisville Nature Center and the Louisville Zoo will again be
offering a week of non-stop excitement for children ages
8–12. Campers will be tracking native wildlife at the Louisville
Nature Center, learning tennis skills on the courts of the
Louisville Tennis Center, and visiting with the wild creatures at
the Louisville Zoo. All three sessions are identical. If your child
has a tennis racket we suggest that he/she bring it. Each
participant must bring a lunch and dress appropriately for outside
play (tennis shoes are required).
Cost: Regular $195; LNC or Zoo Members $180

Cancellation and Refund Policy
- Individuals who wish to cancel their registration in any class must
notify the Education Department, in writing, no less than one week
prior to the actual date of the class. We will refund 80% of the
class fee upon receipt of a written or email (danita.robbins@louisvilleky.gov) cancellation.
There will be no refunds for cancellations made less than one week
prior to class date.
- The
Education Department reserves the right to cancel classes with
insufficient registration.
- There
will be a $10 service charge for any changes in the original
registration.
- Pre-registration is required for all classes.

Registrations are taken on a first-come, first-served basis and camps
fill quickly. Pre-registration is required for all classes.

eTicket Store are available unless otherwise
noted. Only credit card payments accepted. Confirmations are automatically
emailed with your ticket.

received with the registration form at least two weeks to the preferred session.
