Louisville Zoo announces “ZooTember” events

Presented by McDonalds, events to include movie nights,
Backyard Action Hero Day.

September is “ZooTember” at the Louisville Zoo, presented by McDonalds. Upcoming events include:

MOVIE NIGHTS

On three Friday nights—September 4, 11 and 18—bring your blankets or lawn chairs and enjoy a fun family movie under the stars at the Louisville Zoo’s Oasis Field.

Admission is just $5 admission after 5 p.m. these select nights. Members enter free as a benefit of their membership.

Before the movie begins enjoy music, dancing and games like hot potato, Zoo trivia and hula-hooping starting at 6:30 p.m. Ronald McDonald will join the fun and stop by at 7 p.m. to meet and greet his fans. Movies start at sundown.

For movie titles, visit www.louisvillezoo.org/events.

BACKYARD ACTION HERO DAY

On Saturday, September 12, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., visitors to the Louisville Zoo will be able to meet and greet some of their favorite superheroes and learn how to be an eco-hero right in their own backyards by playing “camouflage coats” and completing a scavenger hunt around the Zoo.

Visitors will also receive a free copy of the newest Toyota Backyard Action Hero Guidebook when they enter.

The free 2009-2010 Toyota Backyard Action Hero Guidebook is entitled “Adventures in the Tundra” and focuses on one of the harshest environments on the planet. It also includes information on the animals that live in both the arctic and the alpine tundra and is full of fun facts and awesome activities that kids can do by themselves or with family and friends. There will also be a section on Glacier Run, the Zoo’s newest major exhibit that is currently under construction. Readers will discover ways that they can help protect the environment. It’s not only cool to help with conservation—it can be fun too!

A Backyard Action Hero is a person who is really into wildlife and habitats and is ready to take action to help protect them. A Backyard Action Hero cares about the animals and plants in his/her own back yard and in other parts of the world! The Louisville Zoo is a really great place to learn all about plants and animals.

Toyota Backyard Action Hero Guidebooks are made possible by Toyota Motor Manufacturing Kentucky. Publishers Printing is an additional sponsor of the book.
