Zoo Poopy Doo sales extended, adding May
16 and 23 dates
Because of overwhelming response, the
Louisville Zoo has extended its spring Zoo Poopy Doo compost and
mulch sales, adding Saturdays May 16 and 23.
You can purchase quality hardwood bark
mulch and Zoo Poopy Doo (which is made especially by our animals at
the Zoo!) from 8 a.m. to noon May 16 and 23. Make your purchases at
the ticket windows (in front of the Zoo entrance gates) then collect
your mulch or compost in the Zoo’s bus parking lot.
Mulch:
$22.50 per load for small pick-up truck
$35 per load for medium to full size pick-up truck
Compost:
$30 per scoop (equal to about 1 cubic yard)
*Note: Bags
of compost are NOT available for sale*
Zoo Poopy Doo
is a rich compost mixture comprised of Zoo hoof stock manure (like
elephant, rhino, camel and giraffe), hay, straw and wood shavings.
Compost
improves the aeration of the soil, reduces compaction and adds
important micronutrients that do not normally come with most
fertilizers. Mulch helps reduce weeds and retains moisture.
Whether you
choose to till your gardens or top-dress your landscape beds—compost
and mulch will give your plants a healthy boost. Proof of the
effectiveness of these two products is evident from all the healthy
botanicals at the Zoo.
