ZOO POOPY DOO!
Louisville Zoo’s spring mulch and
compost sale scheduled for April
Gardeners, growers and green thumbs—mark
April 11, 18 and 25 on your calendars! Zoo Poopy Doo returns to the
Louisville Zoo for its first sales of the year.
You can purchase quality hardwood bark
mulch and Zoo Poopy Doo (which is made especially by our animals at
the Zoo!) from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. April 11, 18 and 25. Zoo Poopy Doo
is a rich compost mixture comprised of Zoo hoof stock manure (like
elephant, rhino, camel and giraffe), hay, straw and wood shavings.
Make your purchases at the ticket windows
(in front of the Zoo entrance gates) and then collect your mulch or
compost in the Zoo’s bus parking lot.
Mulch $22.50 per load for small
pick-up truck
$35 per load for medium
to full size pick-up truck
Compost $30 per scoop
*Note: Bags of compost are not
available for sale*
Compost improves the aeration of the soil,
reduces compaction and adds important micronutrients that do not
normally come with most fertilizers. Mulch helps reduce weeds and
retains moisture. Whether you choose to till your gardens or
top-dress your landscape beds—compost and mulch will give your
plants a healthy boost. Proof of the effectiveness of these two
products is evident from all the healthy botanicals at the Zoo.
Zoo Poopy Doo will also be sold again in
the fall. Please check
www.louisvillezoo.org for details later this year.
